On 26 November 2010 (Black Friday) employees at a Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia, observed a shopper stuffing a Dell laptop down his pants. According to police, security personnel approached 39-year-old Tracey Attaway of Waynesboro, Georgia, and asked him to return the merchandise. The suspect became angry, pulled out a knife, knocked down an employee, and ran out the front door.

Outside the store, Marines and volunteers were collecting donations for Toys for Tots. One of them, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, clotheslined the man. The suspect regained his feet and swung his knife, stabbing Duggan.  He was tackled by several other Marines and members of the store’s loss-prevention team, who held him in the parking lot until deputies arrived.

The injured Marine was taken to Eisenhower Army Medical Center and received stitches for his wound. The suspect was jailed and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a knife in the commission of a crime.

Catch Me if You Can

Controlling a Computer with Eyes

An upstate New York resident has been arrested in Brooklyn after making a Facebook post taunting police to “catch me if you can.”

“He told us via Facebook to come and get him and we did.”

- Utica Sgt. Steve Hauck

U.S. Marshals and NYPD detectives found 29 year old Victor Burgos sitting at his computer, with his Facebook page open.  He was wanted by police on multiple warrants for harassment and domestic violence.

Friday Bonus Video: It’s Not The Size of the Dog in the Fight

A Chihuahua protecting its bone. Photographer'...

Image via Wikipedia

Two robbers discovered on Monday that it is indeed not the size of the dog in the fight (or in this case, in the smoke shop), but the size of the fight in the dog – a chihuahua, to be exact.  This little guy deserves a medal for heroism above and beyond what could have ever been expected of him.

Where are my keys?

Keys.

Recently three gunmen invaded a home in Kissimmee, Florida and held the occupants at gunpoint while they robbed the place.  They reportedly dragged one of the women by the hair, pistol whipped another, and threatened to kill all of them.

After loading up with laptops, jewelry, and cash, the three men ran out to their getaway truck.  Happily, the terrible trio forgot one thing – they left their keys in the house they had just robbed.  As if to underscore the fact that criminals are criminally stoopid, they tried to break back into the house.  By then, 911 had been called and the neighbors all got good descriptions of the morons felonious gentlemen.  Police caught up to them a few hours later in a nearby motel.

Siphoning

A man attempting to siphon gas from a motor home in Seattle made a rather repulsive error.

Police arrived at the scene to find a very ill man curled up next to a motor home.  It seems he plugged his siphon hose into the motor home’s sewage tank by mistake.

The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges, saying that it was the best laugh he’d ever had.

Bungling Burglars Bust Bumper

Automated teller machine located in Fairfield ...

Image via Wikipedia

Two would-be ATM robbers decided the best approach to a quick withdrawal would be to pull the front off of the machine.  Being the geniuses that they are, they attached a chain to the machine and then to the bumper of their truck.  Score: ATM -1 Truck Bumper – 0.  This frightened the bungling burglars, so they decided to give up and go home, leaving their bumper behind.  Complete with license plate.

Robin Hood Goes Cow-zy

Robin Hood statue in Nottingham

Image via Wikipedia

According to police in Stafford, Virginia, a man dressed in a cow costume (yes, we said COW) walked into a Walmart and walked out with 26 gallons of milk.  In true Robin Hood fashion, he distributed the milk to bystanders outside of the store.

He was later apprehended at MoocDonalds, where he was eating in his regular guy togs.

We here at FS headquarters are betting the not-made-for-TV movie will feature Friar Tuck in an elephant outfit. ;)
